Film Moccasins to Main Street Documentary
Film Rich in Michigan History Set to Screen at the 10th Annual East Lansing Children’s Film Festival
From Moccasins to Main Street is a 60 minute film that is part documentary, part drama, part travelogue, and totally Michigan! It screens at 1:50 p.m., Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Michigan State University’s South Kedzie Hall (corner of Farm Lane and Auditorium Road, East Lansing).
Many residents probably aren’t aware that a historic highway (US-12) runs across Lower Michigan, and was once used by Native Americans 300 years ago. Four young students weren’t aware either until they spend an educational summer interning for a retired history professor. Under his guidance, the rich history of the Old Chicago Road, one of Michigan’s earliest transportation routes unfolds.
