2007 Oscar Nominated Films
Two 2007 Academy Award® nominated films are a part of the East Lansing Children’s Film Festival lineup.
At 1:50 p.m. Saturday, February 24, Binta And The Great Idea (Binta Y La Gran Idea) a nominee for Best Live Action Short will be shown during a program of short films at MSU’s South Kedzie Hall (corner of Farm Ln. and Auditorium Rd., East Lansing).
This 30 minute film, by Javier Fesser and Luis Manson is about a seven-year-old African girl who tells the story of her cousin, who longs to go to school, and her father, who has an idea that he hopes will change the world.
At 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, The Danish Poet, a nominee for Best Animated Short Film will be shown during a tribute to the National Film Board of Canada, which includes a program of short films, four of which were former Oscar® nominees. This program repeats at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 28 at NCG Eastwood Cinemas.
This 15 minute film, about a young poet in search of inspiration who travels to Norway to meet the celebrated writer Sigrid Undset, is the second Academy Award® nomination for director Torill Kove.
From February 23 - March 1, 2007 The East Lansing Children’s Film Festival (ELCFF) brings an awesome lineup of over 100 films in 21 different programs to mid-Michigan. Among the offerings audiences will enjoy are 16 world premieres, five U.S. premieres and seven past or present Academy Award nominated films.

Programs are comprised of compilations of short films or stand-alone features throughout the week-long festival. Tickets, $5/child and $6/adult (18+) per program, are available on-line at http://www.presaleticketing.com until 1 p.m. on Friday, February 23 or at the door 1 hour prior to show times.
The ELCFF is a year-round non-profit organization dedicated to showcasing films from around the globe that enrich, inspire, educate and entertain children without violent or exploitative content. Now a seven-day festival, it is devoted to the highly creative and enriching world of film. Offerings throughout the year include a state-wide youth film competition that focuses on films made by children in grades K-12, year-round media literacy programs and film making workshops for children K-12.
