This year’s most notable films/categories include:

Flawed Geniuses:

This category features a number of magnificent films celebrating some of the world’s most eccentric and gifted minds. A Japanese inventor, an American showman, and a Spanish spy are but a few of the subjects whose talents, and flaws are depicted in these wonderful portrayals of the human spirit.

Accelerator 1 & 2:

These must-see programs offer a multitude of short films, offering a glimpse into the most exciting new filmmaking from Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

First Encounters:

In this category space is provided to allow a bright new generation of filmmakers a medium through which their talents can be displayed. Films include ‘Alamar’, ‘The Angel’, ‘The Day Will Come’, and the acclaimed ‘I Killed My Mother’. This showcase is sure to prove one of the most popular of the entire event.

With a line-up like this it’s no wonder that this years MIFF is being prematurely referred to as one of the most exciting in the event’s 59 year history. For avid film buffs, and modest film-goers alike, this is a film festival not to be missed!
